A Message To Our Guests
Dear Guests,
Bienvenidos! Welcome to Acapulco! Whether you are staying at Casa Tres Palabras (house of three words, "I love you") or Casa Las Colinas (house of the Hills), I have put together this information letter in order to introduce you to my staff and give some helpful hints that will make your stay a most wonderful experience.
Benny at Tres Palabras speaks and understands English very well as well as the Main Houseman at Las Colinas. The other staff members speak some English and by far make a sincere effort to understand your wishes and cater to them.
- At Tres Palabras:
- Benny- Is the Main Houseman
- There is an Assistant Houseman, a Cook, a Housekeeper, a Gardner and a Laundress
- At Las Colinas:
- There is a Main Houseman, Assistant Houseman, a Gardner, a Cook, and a Housekeeper
Most of them have been members of the household for years and are competent and honest. However, please do not leave money, jewelry, or other valuables lying around. Each room has a key for you to lock the door during the day and at night. Acapulco, in general, is a very safe and casual city for shopping or sightseeing (but don't flash your money or jewelry!). Benny and the other Main Houseman are available to make any arrangements and reservations for you when needed.
Airport transportation can be arranged in nice air-conditioned vans for $35 per trip each way. Vans hold up to 7-8 people and can also be rented by the day from for $90 a day. The drivers will speak good English. Sightseeing and shopping are lots of fun with them guiding and driving you. Please pay them direct, as vehicles are very expensive to operate, buy and maintain in Mexico.
There is bottled water for you to drink in all of the rooms. Please use the air conditioners only when you are in the rooms. Should you drink liquor, you will need to pick it up or give the Main Houseman the money and tell them what liquor, mixers, etc. you want. They will make you drinks all day long if you so desire; they are great bartenders (especially margaritas and piña coladas!). I suggest that you stock up on your arrival. The cooks will be happy to prepare 2 or 3 meals a day, and need only to be told what you want, how many people, and the time that you want to eat. I've attached my favorite menus for your information. The cooks are fantastic and you will enjoy their creations. The staff at both Villas are eager and happy to serve you – making sure you have a wonderful time!
Be sure to advise the Main Houseman if you want wine with meals. Some Mexican wines are "almost" good and there is a nice liquor store downtown that has a nice selection of wines from all over! I suggest giving them $30-$35 per person per day if you desire 3 meals, $20 for 2 meals, and $15 for 1 meal. They will do the shopping for food and drinks, and will present you with the receipts for these purchases. Necessities such as paper goods and soap are purchased with food money. They are goodhearted souls to go to the supermarket every day and wait in those lines to buy your food fresh daily. If you have a large group (8 or more) you might want to serve family style by putting platters on the table or by having buffets occasionally. We have some lovely table settings for your enjoyment-many are gifts to me from friends who have enjoyed the Villas as much as I do. I have had Casa Tres Palabras for 17 years; Las Colinas was acquired and completely remodeled in 1998. Coffee can be ready anytime in the morning. Margaritas all day!!! The staff is available to please and cater to your wishes. Lunch or dinner in the Palapa is great!!!
- Breakfast is "Desayuno"-usually between 9:00-11:00
- Lunch is "Almuerzo"-served 1:00-4:00
- Dinner is "Cena"-served 7:00-10:00
Show the Main Houseman your selections on the attached menu if you cannot pronounce the words in "español". I have attached some proven and well-balanced meals, and since I'm a veteran restaurateur I wouldn't guide you wrong! They are great! (Muy deliciosos!)
Please remember the marble floors are slippery when wet. Also, water is a premium, so please conserve it while brushing your teeth and while taking a shower. All long distance calls need to be billed to your home phone, or call collect. Please do not call direct since long distance from Mexico is out of sight "$" wise! Your cell phone may work too.
The rooms are cleaned and beds are made daily while you are out. All of our furnishings are true Mexican ethnic items I've collected throughout this wonderful country. All of the art is original by aspiring Mexican artists…and I'm always adding to the collection. Remember to take all personal items (computers, CD’s, etc.) to your room at night.
Upon your departure, if you are pleased with the service, I suggest you divvy up $18-$20 from each person per day they are there and divide total among staff. If you are ecstatic, then your generosity is greatly appreciated by these terrific people. I would advise paying each employee his or her tip directly. I usually do so in an envelope with their name. Tip guidelines are attached.
There is a wonderful masseuse available. Ask the Main Houseman and he will call to set-up the appointment. They will come to the house and make you feel great for $25 + tip. Also, there are young ladies who will come and give manicures and pedicures for $25 + tip for both and even cut hair! WOW!
Carmen’s Jewelry Store is a lovely place to shop for jewelry. It was owned by Carmen, a dear friend of mine, and now her daughter’s April and Raquel run the store. The girls will even bring jewelry to the house if you desire, and they can make custom jewelry for you, with a description or a photo. The work is phenomenal!
I hope these suggestions help make your Acapulco getaway a special treat for you. Enjoy yourselves! You are in one of the most heavenly spots on Earth! Disfrútelo! (Enjoy)
